ACTIVITIES AROUND THE FETHIYE AREA

Along the Aegean Lycian Coast there is plenty to do with paragliding and microlights at Olu Deniz, windsurfing and kite-surfing at Calis Beach and sailing, swimming, water-skiing and scuba diving at many of the local beaches. Inland along the Turquoise Coast there is walking, mountain biking, quad biking, horse riding, jeep and truck safaris and visits to the numerous Roman and Lycian archaeological sites. Walking the Lycian Way will certainly appeal to many people. Further inland there is a range of lakes of particular interest for fishing and bird watching and if anyone is interested in geocaching there are about 60 caches around the Lycian Coast. Close to the villa, just 8km down the main road, is an excellent go-kart track which will entertain the kids.

From the promenade in Fethiye there are many boat operators running trips to the twelve islands in the bay and to Gocek marina. Boats can also be hired for a spectacular sunset cruise or for a day of sea fishing. You can take a day trip to Rhodes on a hydrofoil ferry or take a coach tour to Pamukkale hot springs for the spectacular scenery. There are also tours to Saklikent Gorge for water rafting and the mud baths. The Air Games held at Olu Deniz in mid-October have an Air Force fly past, aerobatic displays and many competitors using micro-lites and para-gliders and are well worth a visit.
